What is the Korean equivalent of Cicaplast Baume B5? Cicaplast next to Etude SoonJung and Purito B5 balms

What Is the Korean Equivalent of Cicaplast Baume B5? (Seoul Label Check)

What is the Korean equivalent of Cicaplast Baume B5? If you want the same idea in a Korean tube, it’s Etude’s SoonJung Panthensoside 10 Cica Balm: panthenol high on the list, plus madecassoside and other centella compounds, in a balm texture, for about ₩20,000 (around $15) for 50 ml on Amorepacific’s own mall. Purito Seoul’s B5 Panthenol Re-barrier Cream is the lighter, daytime alternative. And if you’re in Seoul and want the plainest panthenol option of all, the pharmacy sells Bepanthen ointment, which in Korea is a medicine, not a cosmetic.

Cicaplast itself is easy to find here too. It’s on Olive Young’s shelves in both sizes, and on La Roche-Posay’s Korean mall the 100 ml is listed at ₩41,000 (about $30). So the question most people are really asking is: is there a Korean-made balm that does the same job for less, and how close is it really? We checked the Korean ingredient lists (전성분) and won prices so you don’t have to.

Quick answer

  • Closest label match: Etude SoonJung Panthensoside 10 Cica Balm. Panthenol sits third on the list, with madecassoside and asiaticoside. ₩20,000 / 50 ml (Amoremall, 20% off a ₩25,000 list price).
  • Lighter, more ml for the money: Purito Seoul B5 Panthenol Re-barrier Cream. Gel-cream, 80 ml, ₩22,000 list.
  • Simplest formula: Pyunkang Yul Calming Moisture Repair Balm. Panthenol and centella, but no madecassoside.
  • Pharmacy option: Bepanthen ointment (비판텐연고), 5% dexpanthenol, about ₩11,000 for 30 g. It’s an OTC medicine in Korea, so you ask the pharmacist, not an Olive Young clerk.

What is the Korean equivalent of Cicaplast Baume B5? The short list

Cicaplast Baume B5+ is built around three things: panthenol (vitamin B5, a humectant that helps skin hold water), madecassoside and centella leaf extract (the “cica” part, used for soothing), and a rich base of shea butter, glycerin and dimethicone that sits on skin like a protective film. On the Korean product page, La Roche-Posay also lists zinc and manganese gluconate and the ferment ingredients behind its “Tribioma” claim, though the Korean listing doesn’t print a panthenol percentage.

A real “equivalent” should hit at least two of those three: panthenol high on the list, a cica compound, and an occlusive balm feel. Here’s how the Korean options line up.

Etude SoonJung Panthensoside 10 Cica Balm: the closest match

If you only remember one name, make it this one. The current Korean name is 순정 판텐소사이드™ 10 시카밤, and you’ll also see it written as “SoonJung 10-Panthensoside Cica Balm” on English shops. “Panthensoside” is Etude’s own word for its panthenol-plus-madecassoside blend, which already tells you what it was designed to sit next to.

The ingredient list on reseller listings opens Water, Butylene Glycol, Panthenol, Squalane, and Skinsort counts seven ingredients it shares with Cicaplast, including panthenol and madecassoside. The “10” in the name is widely read as 10% panthenol, but we only found that number on resellers’ pages, not Amoremall’s, so treat it as unconfirmed.

The difference you’ll notice is feel. Cicaplast has a whitish, slightly draggy finish that some people love as an overnight “sealing” layer and others find heavy. Retailers describe the Etude balm as lighter and faster to absorb, though Skinsort users still mostly rate it as heavy. In practice it sits between Cicaplast and a normal moisturizer.

  • Price: ₩20,000 for 50 ml on Amoremall (₩25,000 list). Danawa showed one seller at ₩17,500.
  • Per ml vs Cicaplast: roughly ₩400/ml vs ₩410/ml for the 100 ml Cicaplast at list. So it’s not dramatically cheaper per ml; the win is the smaller, cheaper tube and the lighter texture.
  • Where: Etude stores, Amoremall. We couldn’t confirm it on Olive Young Korea’s site this week.

Purito B5 Panthenol Re-barrier Cream: the daytime pick

Purito’s cream is the one Western Reddit threads usually name first, and for good reason: it’s 80 ml, it layers under sunscreen, and the list combines panthenol with centella, niacinamide, squalane, madecassoside and copper tripeptide-1. DermFnd describes it as a “silky gel-cream,” which is the honest way to frame it: this is a moisturizer with Cicaplast’s ingredient logic, not a balm with Cicaplast’s occlusive weight.

One caution on numbers: retailers disagree about its panthenol percentage. One Korean shop page says 10% in one paragraph and 1% in another. We’d ignore the percentage and judge it on where panthenol sits on the list and how it feels on your skin.

  • Price: ₩22,000 list for 80 ml (about ₩275/ml), seen at ₩18,000 on sale. In the US, DermFnd lists it at $23.99.
  • Heads-up: searching Olive Young Korea for Purito this week only turned up a different panthenol product, the Mighty Bamboo Panthenol Cream (100 ml). Check the exact name on the box before you buy.

Using Cicaplast after a laser or booster?

That’s when most people in Seoul reach for a panthenol balm, and it’s exactly what our free Seoul Aftercare Cheat Sheet covers: what Korean clinics hand you after laser toning, Rejuran, skin boosters and more, which balm goes on which day, and what to skip. Leave your email and we’ll send it straight over.

Pyunkang Yul and the pharmacy route

Pyunkang Yul Calming Moisture Repair Balm

Pyunkang Yul is known for short, plain formulas, and this balm follows that pattern: panthenol is the fifth ingredient, with centella extract, squalane and shea butter. There’s no madecassoside and no ceramide on the list Skinsort publishes, so it’s “Cicaplast-adjacent” rather than a true equivalent. We couldn’t verify a current Korean price, so we’re leaving that blank rather than guessing.

Bepanthen ointment (비판텐연고) from a Korean pharmacy

This is the Seoul-only tip most English guides miss. Bayer’s Bepanthen ointment is sold in Korea as an 일반의약품 (OTC medicine), according to the Korea Pharmaceutical Information Center, so you’ll find it at a 약국 (pharmacy), not on the Olive Young shelf. It’s 5% dexpanthenol in a thick ointment, with no fragrance, and Allure Korea included it in its roundup of pharmacy beauty buys that doctors and pharmacists pay for themselves.

Pharmacy price tracker Barkiri shows the 30 g tube averaging ₩10,963 (about $8) across 48 pharmacies, with a range of ₩9,500 to ₩15,000. It has no cica ingredients and it’s greasier than any of the creams above, so think of it as a small-area option (dry patches, around the nose, lips) rather than an all-over face balm. Because it’s a medicine here, ask the pharmacist whether it fits what you plan to use it for.

Which one should you buy?

  • You love Cicaplast but want it lighter: Etude SoonJung Panthensoside 10 Cica Balm.
  • You want something under sunscreen in the morning: Purito B5 Panthenol Re-barrier Cream.
  • You react to lots of ingredients: start with the shortest list you can find, then patch test. Pyunkang Yul is the simplest of the cosmetics here.
  • You just want Cicaplast, cheaper: buy Cicaplast itself in Seoul. The 40 ml tube shows up from about ₩14,570 on Danawa, and Olive Young discounts it often.
  • Post-treatment skin: follow your clinic’s sheet first. Our laser toning aftercare and Rejuran aftercare guides show where a panthenol balm usually fits.

Want the label-reading logic behind this? Our madecassoside vs centella guide explains why “cica” on the front doesn’t always mean madecassoside on the back, and our Aestura vs Atopalm vs Zeroid comparison covers the ceramide-heavy Korean barrier creams if panthenol isn’t what you’re after.

Korean Cicaplast equivalent FAQ

Is Etude SoonJung a dupe for Cicaplast Baume B5?

It’s the closest Korean match on the ingredient list: panthenol near the top plus madecassoside and asiaticoside, in a balm. It isn’t identical. The base is different (squalane rather than Cicaplast’s shea-and-dimethicone feel), and it reads lighter on skin.

Is Cicaplast cheaper in Korea?

The Korean list price for the 100 ml is ₩41,000 (about $30), and the 40 ml appears from about ₩14,570 (about $11) on Danawa. We couldn’t load La Roche-Posay’s US site to compare this week, so check the current US price before you decide to stock up.

Can I buy Cicaplast at Olive Young?

Yes. Olive Young Korea carries both the 40 ml and 100 ml Cicaplast Baume B5+. Prices there change with its regular sales, so the app price is usually the one to check.

What is the Korean version of Bepanthen?

Korea sells Bepanthen itself, as 비판텐연고, at pharmacies. It’s classed as an OTC medicine here, not a cosmetic, which is why you won’t find it at Olive Young.

What’s the best Korean panthenol cream for daytime?

Of the options here, Purito’s B5 Panthenol Re-barrier Cream is the easiest to wear under sunscreen because it’s a gel-cream rather than a balm.
